Why Headssup?
The World Health Organisation defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing.
Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions and those of the people around you.
“Firstly – Headssup is an excellent package. I personally see the importance of Emotional Intelligence. I believe that if we can improve a child’s ability to identify, interpret and manage their own emotions, their mental health will be much improved, as will their ability to resist substance abuse or violence. The layout and organisation is very clear. The content is engaging and age appropriate. Well done!”
Dr Tascha Clapperton, Developmental Psychologist
Physical health is the ability to perform aspects of sports and daily activities. Physical health is achieved through proper nutrition, physical exercise and the right amount of sleep. The benefits of physical health are increased confidence, peer acceptance, leadership skills and empathy. These can have a significant effect on a child's health, happiness and future.
Social health relates to our hobbies, interests, being part of a team, a club, performing or volunteering. These activities help our social wellness by giving us a sense of achievement and increasing our self-esteem. They also help to build healthy, supportive relationships and genuine connections with those around us.
”Our experiences, relationships and surroundings at a very young age, lay the foundations for the rest of our lives.”
Catherine, Princess of Wales
Headssup has been created to help children understand and take some level of personal ownership on a daily basis, of all of the above aspects of their health; their emotional health, their physical health, their social health and their friendship or relational health. It breaks down the important messages into age-appropriate steps and makes it easy for them to remember and follow each day.
In addition, EYFS transition and Year 6-7 Transition can be a difficult time fro some children. Using research and co-producing Emi and short rhyming stories with 1000’s of children, transition can be better supported with Emi and a simple QR code.
